Celebrating the Dream
The grand opening celebration on May 14th was an amazing event. Local and visiting attendees participated in a parade that started at the old fire hall and proceeded along Hwy. 22 until it reached the new fire hall on Sorbin St. Bagpipers, honor guards and dignitaries led the way, followed by the CERT team, community members and fire fighters from the surrounding districts. Following the dedication and flag raising, attendees were treated to a hot dog lunch and tours of the new facility.
The fundraising concert held on May 21st and led by Fire Chief Gary Swanson was another “sold-out” event. Guests were once again entertained with a variety of music, dance, and the humor of MC Craig Campbell. Chief Swanson, known for his talent at the piano, surprised everyone with a trumpet performance.
The community has already embraced the new facility as the place to hold special events in the area. It has been booked for fundraisers, reunions, weddings and anniversaries. If you’re hosting a meeting, or celebration, and need a first class venue, contact Nancy Swanson at rtb@wvi.com.
