Fire Hall Project: The future facility

The Gates Fire District has secured the parcel of land upon which the fire facility/community center will reside. The parcel is on East Sorbin Street, located at the northwest end of the Gates Bridge. The wooded lot is 1.79 acres.

Architects have created a schematic of the proposed center which is pictured above. Highlights of this facility include:

• Room for facility growth & development
• Space to house and provide emergency services to displaced persons in cases of adverse events
• Legal ownership of the property
• Adequate room for fire department, CERT training and housing of equipment
• Apparatus bays that are designed to house needed larger emergency vehicles
• ADA access
• Meeting room for public gatherings and community events
• A safe, reliable structure that meets earthquake codes
