Fire Hall Project: Why a new fire hall?
The fire department has outgrown the present facility. Its current home is no longer adequate to support the emergency response services and operations of the Gates Fire District. The current site does not allow for expansion of the current facility because of physical restrictions of the property. The Board of Directors has identified the need to build a new fire facility/community center as its most important goal.
A new fire facility is needed to ensure that the Gates Rural Fire Protection District can continue to meets its responsibility of providing quick and professional emergency response services to the patrons of the fire district. In addition, the fire district does not currently own the property or the building that it resides in and is prepared to own and operate its own facility.
The current building and its location present many obstacles that prevent safe and expanded emergency services operations of the Fire Department. Among them are space restrictions, failure to meet earthquake codes, lack of American Disabilities Act (ADA) access, and public and responder accessibility safety issues. The District’s ultimate goal is to provide quality fire, medical, and rescue emergency service with the commitment to saving lives and property. The proposed new fire facility will help ensure the continuance of emergency services and its growth and development within the community for decades to come. |
